Eating on Your Own

On Campus Options

Eric's Restaurant, located in the UH Hilton, is one of the nicest dining options on campus. They have a good selection of entrees ranging from $12-$20. They also have a full bar.

Wendy's and Subway, located in the University Center, have limited hours during the summer.

Starbucks, craving that grande non-fat mocha? We have two Starbucks locations on campus - one in UC Satellite (also called the Underground) and one in the Business School. We'll have more information about hours at Immersion. For coffee drinkers (we have some dedicated ones on our staff) there will be coffee waiting for you at 8AM before your first session.

Oberholtzer Cafeteria, located in the dorm complex where immersion participants will be staying, meals cost between $5-$8. See the menu for this week at http://www.campusdish.com/en-US/CSSW/UnivofHouston/Menus/OberholtzerHall.htm

Off Campus Options

Houston is one of the greatest cities for eating out. We have every conceivable cuisine due to our large international community. A good option for finding restaurants is the dining section of the Houston Chronicle http://www.chron.com/entertainment/dining/

Some of our favorite places include:

Barnaby's Cafe

414 West Gray (approx. 7 miles)

http://barnabyscafe.com/

Huge salads, great sandwiches

Daily Review Cafe

3412 Lamar (approx. 3 miles away)

Clara notes - great healthy dining, fabulous comfort food, and you _must_ save room for the whiskey pot de creme.

Jenni's Noodle House

2130 Jefferson (approx. 4 miles)

Everything is great! This is a favorite of the Instruction Team at UH.

Julia's

3722 Main Street

Almost fine dining but in a more relaxed environment. On the revitalized Main Street, in mid-town. Watch the light rail zip by while enjoying your food.

Niko Niko's

2520 Montrose (approx. 7 miles)

http://www.nikonikos.com/

Michelle - wonderful, fast Greek food from a Houston institution!

T'afia

3701 Travis

Ultimate mod/urban dining experience. Best cocktails. Outstanding food. Quite pricey. Reservations recommended.

South Philly Steaks

3602 Scott (at Alabama), 713-741-0500

Amelia - This spot on the edge of the UH campus has excellent cheesesteaks(I've eaten there with current and former Philly residents) for cheap. They also deliver.

Frenchy's Chicken

3919 Scott St, (713) 748-2233

Amelia - Also on the edge of the UH campus. Often called Houston's best fried chicken, a favorite of the Houston Rockets and countless H-Town rappers.
