Houston in July: Bring a Sweater!

Yes, it will be hot. And humid. And basically pretty gross. But don't forget about the invention that made this city possible: AIR CONDITIONING. Especially at the library, the indoor temperature can be uncomfortably chilly. Be sure to bring along a sweater or wrap, or you'll probably be compelled to hit the campus store and pick up a UH Cougars sweatshirt.

UH Campus is very urban

Houston is the 4th largest city in the U.S. The main campus is urban and surrounded by economically depressed neighborhoods. The librarians find the main campus to be very safe, but we also recommend that you take the usual precautions when staying in an urban area. After dark, find a buddy or two to join you when you walk around campus. Be aware of your surroundings at all times and don't wear your name badge outside the conference facilities.
